Man, I remember the whole mountain dancing. Good times! Great show!! Best Shakedown I ever saw!!! Phil dropped a bomb during Ramble on Rose that pushed on the crowd and created a wave. Scarlet>Fire is very nice. Nice end to a great run at Red Rocks.

...Rollandfin
The best Ramble on Rose for sure for those of us that were there...Listen to that Phil lead just before 'Good bye momma and poppa...good bye Jack n Jill'...I was at this show but not at the 6-18-74 show from Kentucky..I know that was a great classic show, but it was a different time for the band...Like comparing Eyes Of The World from 1973 to 1978...I get it though...

Excellent setlist with great renditions. Not quite a 5, but better than a 4!

Well, this is what started it all for me. I was a sophmore at CU Boulder and had never seen the Dead before. We got lost trying to find Red Rocks and I nearly got kickked out when I jumped over the fence at the top of the auditorium to pee - and let me say that it was the first time I have ever SEEN musical energy pass between musicians and audience. I was not in the best state to truly judge the musical quality - at the time, it seemed incredible - but on listening back I must admit there is a drive and intensity to most of the second set; Brent providing jazzy notes during Estimated Prophet, Jerry attaining untold solo heights, Bobby passionate with his singing. The encore is masterful. The band took each song section as an opportunity to go higher...FUN! I have actually listened to the previous evening's show a lot more, and that is equally amazing. Thanks for posting these shows.

WOW!! This show is SICK!! Brutal versions of everything. Shakedown is killer. The whole first set is on FIRE!! Jerry solos like a demon on Ramble on Rose. The Pre-Drums is some amazing Good Ol Grateful Dead. Scarlet>Fire>Estimated>Terrapin!! A good Scarlet with Jerry reaching some heights. The Fire is off the hook, especially the third solo. Estimated Rocks. The Terrapin is tender and emotional. Throwing Stones is great. The star of the Post-Drums is Good Lovin with Bobby rapping like crazy. It almost sounds like a Pigpen Good Lovin'. This was a team effort. Brent and the Drummers bring their A game as does Phil. One of the best of a Grate year 1983.
I was only 2 years old in 1981 so I wasnt there to see the action as many of the lucky Heads were, so a big Shot Out to the Archive and Jonathan Aizen for making this available. And THANX to the tapers and
THANK GOD FOR THE GOOD OL GRATEFUL DEAD!!

I must say, I absolutely love this show. The "Shakedown" to me one of the top 3 in my book. Also, this is the BEST "Ramble On Rose" you will ever hear.

pretty good sounding AUD, but a little bit of a sloppy performance....I think I like 9/6 the best out of the three...
regardless, this show's got a damn good Shakedown and Estimated...
the next three nights on the other hand (9/10, 9/11, 9/13) are sick!!!!!!!
